Any suggestions on correct way to wax new Skis.?
Buying new pair of Rossignol Zenith 10 Mutix, but never owned a pair of skis so the maintnenance and upkeep is new to me. Living in Ireland tends not to have much need for skis but pointless hiring a shitty amateur pair for 100 euros plus again this year.
for tuning skis there are a few basic things you need to now, but before that you need to make sure that you own a waxing iron, a plastic scraper, a brass brush, wax, a file, and a guide. The first thing that you should do is put the file into the guide and run that along your edges a few times, make sure that the guide is flat to your base. then brush you skis from TIP to TAIL to get any grime out of the base before you wax, but remember TIP TO TAIL!!! then hold the iron above the ski and press your bar of wax onto it and drip the wax up and down the ski. then put the iron flat to the ski and move it up and down along the ski until there is an even layer of wax all over the base, remember not to hold the iron over a single spot for to long or your base will bubble. then leave your skis for at least 30 minutes but it can be much longer if you want. when your ready, scrape the skis from TIP TO TAIL until there is no wax coming off, then use your brush for a bit and scrape again. then brush agian and your skis are ready to roll!
