DDR Game Pads – The Options Available
Dance Dance Revolution has widely become known as DDR, and there are many DDR game pads available on the market. The mats are available for a wide range of gaming systems including; Xbox, PS2, PS3, Game Cube, and PC/Mac. Some of the mats are adaptable for more than one system, but not all. However, there are mats available for all of the gaming systems mentioned.
The DDR game pads come in a couple different styles. The most common are the metal pads and the pads with high density foam. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. The newer models are better now than they use to be. They are built to last longer and are more responsive than they were before.
The metal DDR game pads are a little more durable than the foam pads. This means that they will last a bit longer, but with that comes added weight. Because they have a metal construction these pads are going to be a bit more bulky and a little heavier than the other types of pads. This could make storing the pad a bit of a challenge, and it might be bothersome if you have to hook the pad up and put it away on a regular basis. However, the metal pads are not just more durable. Some of them come with a handrail. This little feature is a great bonus. It helps keep you centered on the mat better, which makes hitting those arrows a little easier too.
The foam DDR game pads are pretty durable too, and are much lighter. Since the foam can be removed you can essentially fold this mat up and tuck it away. The foam is also light enough to put up on the shelf, something you can't do with the metal pads. The high density foam is also good for your feet and helps reduce the stress. That's a great advantage for those DDR players who get wrapped up in the game for hours at a time.
If you are considering joining the dance revolution you should have no problem finding a pad. In fact, the opposite might be true. There are many different pads available for all types of gaming systems, so you might have a hard time picking one. Keep in mind where you want to set up the mat and how often you are planning on putting the mat away. If it's something that will need to be stored often than you might want to consider the foam mats. If not, and you plan on playing it a lot, you might want to think about investing in a metal mat.

Why did STS 1 land at Edwards Air Force Base instead of Kennedy Space Center?
Also, why does the shuttle rotate after takeoff? Why don't they just position it on the launch pad the way it is after the rotation?
The first few missions landed at Edwards because it had a MUCH bigger landing area, in case they were a little off in their navigation. It is after all an un powered glider and they can't use engine power to correct the landing targeting.
The launch pad is an old Apollo launch pad and the shuttle has to sit on it so the service tower and hold down arms match up with the shuttle correctly. It is a lot cheaper to just turn each shuttle in flight after it launches than to rebuild the pad. After all, your wouldn't expect the Denver airport to build a new runway that points straight at New York just because the pilot of a plane going to New York didn't feel like turning the plane after takeoff.
