Should I purchase the Atomic Metron 11 B5 or the Atomic Metron B5i?

I'm not sure what level skiier I am. I have skied for 4 years, and I was told by the Teaching Director at the Ski Resort I learned in that I could get a part-time job teaching there. Also, it has to be good on ice. And what length should the skis be if I am 5ft 10 in and roughly 185 pounds?
Also, do you know where I can buy the Atomic Metron 11 B5? I can't seem to find a "legit" place on the internet.

I have a lot of experience with both skis and this is an easy answer.

The M11 B5 is far more appropriate as a work ski. It it better on ice than most high end skis execpt probably the regular B5. The big advantage (and this is huge), is that the ski has a more moderate sidecut and is slightly softer in flex than the B5.

In order to be able to demonstrate low to mid level skiing manuvers, you need to be able to skid the ski through the turns sometimes and carve the ski at other times. The M11 B5 will allow this much more easily. While the B5 might be one of the ultimate hard snow carving skis ever made, it is NOT forgiving. For an exceptional (read L-III) skier, maybe the B5 would be OK, but I'm a former L-III myself and don't want something that demanding.

The "Metron" scale was a sizing system that put average sized guys like you on very short skis (like 162 believe it or not) and the longest they made was a 172. While this is ok for teaching and you wouldn't sacrifice grip, I found the really short skis too turny. The M11 B5 came in a different sizing scale and the longest they made was (IIRC) a 176. I would say that the size closest to a 170 would be the best choice.

Realistically, there are probably better choices than either, but between those two....the M11-B5

Oooops!!....since you were so specific, I assumed you had a line on them. The Metron series was not sold in the US for '09. You might find an '08 but I don't know where.

If you can't find one, here is a link to a fairly similar Atomic model that I would personally choose as a work ski over the Metrons anyway.
